Auxiliary Gated Spillway Phase I
Specialty Grouting Subcontractor awarded the contract for the installation of a 1,000 foot long single line grout curtain. The grout curtain forms a water seepage barrier in the rock foundation below the location of dam spillway built under a separate contract. The work included percussion drilling of grout holes in rock, borehole washing, water testing, and production grouting.
Real time electronic monitoring and recording of actual grout flows and pressures was utilized to analyze and direct the grouting program. Electronic monitoring was accomplished utilizing electronic flow meters and electronic pressure transmitters connected to each grout hole, transmitting the flow and pressure data to an xy-recorder linked to a personal computer.
